| Good Manners Out in Community - Level 2 |
|
Out in the CommunityThis is where you see the magic of positive reinforcement training start to shine as you and your dog work to become a team. Many dog owners credit this class with helping them develop a solid come when called away from distractions and great focus and attention when working around other dogs and people. The goal of this class is to hone our dog’s canine good citizen skills out in the community. We are building on the foundation behaviours from beginner level courses. In addition we work more on building the owner’s training skills. We teach owners to break down behaviour into small successful components and to improve their own problem solving and timing. Then owners can transfer what they learn in this class to teaching any new skill or trick they want to teach their dog at home. We work on: building solid attention around distractions, advanced leash walking skills so your dog can walk on a loose leash by other dogs and owners and be under control, a reliable come when called around other dogs, people, food and toys close up and at a distance with the goal building to off leash control, increased time and distance for our sit and down stays so our dogs will stay with people walking by with dogs, baby strollers, sleds, bikes etc, introducing and refining heeling for short distances, introducing hand signals for sit, down or drop, stop and come close up and at a distance. We will also teach your dog to sit calmly while a stranger walks up to you and shakes your hand and asks if they can pet the dog. Requirements: For friendly dogs over 4 months that are up to date on vaccinations including bordatella (kennel cough) and who have completed one beginner level course – either puppy or adult. Students must be prepared to work outside each class – weather permitting. Course Length: 6 classes no orientation. Pricing: $170 + taxes
